Seamless restorations for a new smile
Dental Crowns, sometimes called caps, from John Street Dental are placed over a tooth that has been damaged in an accident, had root canal treatment or a large amount of tooth decay removed. A crown restores strength, function and can also change the shape and colour of a tooth.
Crowns may be made of various materials such as ceramic, metal or porcelain over a metal base. This will depend on the condition of the tooth, position in the mouth and need for strength, such as back molar teeth.
Receiving a dental crown from John Street Dental will often involve two appointment visits.
Firstly your tooth will be prepared and a detailed impression mould will be made. Depending on its location, a temporary crown may be placed while your permanent crown is being crafted in a dental laboratory.
At your second appointment your temporary crown, if one was placed, is removed and your permanent crown is assessed for fit and comfort before being permanently secured, restoring your smile and bite
Dental Bridges:
Dental bridges from John Street Dental are a fixed replacement to fill a space created by one or several missing teeth
Spaces left by missing teeth can lead to teeth on either side of the space rotating or shifting out of alignment and into the empty space, resulting in a bad bite, excessive wear of remaining teeth and possible jaw joint damage.
A dental bridge is held in place by crowns placed over strong, healthy teeth on either side of the gap. And just like a crown, receiving a dental bridge from John Street Dental will often involve two appointments. Firstly, the teeth on either side of the space receiving the supportive crowns are carefully prepared and a detailed impression mould is made. This is the template used by a dental laboratory technician to create your bridge. A temporary bridge is placed while the permanent bridge is created.
Approximately two weeks later at your next appointment, your bridge is checked for fit and comfort before being bonded securely into place, restoring your smile and oral health.
