Dental health week 2019 Facebook

Dental Health Week is coming! But what does it all mean? Your Local Redcliffe Dentist explains……

So when is Dental Health Week, and what is it all about?  Your Local Redciffe dentists at John Street Dental will be working to promote the message of Dental Health Week.

Dental Health Week is an initiative organised by the Australian Dental Association every year, with the aim of educating Australians about the importance of maintaining good oral health.

This year, Dental Health Week takes place from August 5 – 11th and the focuses will be –

Brush twice a day with a toothpaste that contains fluoride

Clean in between teeth at least once a day with floss or an interdental brush

Limiting sugar intake and eating a healthy, balanced diet

Visit the dentist for checkups and preventative treatment regularly.

The ADA is emphasising the importance of these messages as result of their documentation of Australia’s oral health status.

The facts are – 50% of Australians brush their teeth once a day only

– 40% never floss between their teeth

– 73% of 14 to 18year olds excessively consume sugar and

– 65% of Australians haven’t seen a dentist in the last 2 years.

Your Local Redcliffe Dentists understand the importance of getting these messages out there.
