Tooth Whitening with Zoom! what your Local Redcliffe Dentist wants you to know
Zoom! Whitening at John Street Dental
Philips Zoom professional whitening is a fast, effective and safe way to whiten your teeth.
Results from professional treatments can be immediate (up to 8 shades whiter), and because a dental professional is involved, the process is safe, reliable and hassle free. The active ingredient in the whitening gel is hydrogen peroxide. When the whitening gel meets the surface of the teeth, the peroxide molecule breaks down and penetrates into the tooth, removing the stains within the teeth. The activation lamp (blue LED light) that is used during the in-chair Zoom! Whitening procedure helps make the procedure quicker and more efficient.
Your friendly local Redcliffe dentist needs to ensure that Zoom! Whitening is the best option for you hence we need to do an assessment first, preferably at the same appointment you get your teeth cleaned.
The Zoom! Whitening procedure starts by covering your gums and lips so only your teeth will be exposed during your whitening treatment. Once the soft tissues in your mouth are covered we will apply the Zoom! Teeth Whitening gel. The Zoom! Whitening light is then used to activate the whitening gel.
We will leave you to relax for 15minutes, before repeating the procedure up to another three times. After the final application of Zoom! Whitening gel, we apply a desensitising gel to your teeth which will help reduce the chances of experiencing tooth sensitivity. Your teeth remain sensitive for around 24 hours after the procedure.
Zoom! Whitening results in temporary dehydration of the teeth. What this dehydration means is that, following a professional teeth-whitening treatment, it is important that you refrain from consuming anything of a dark colour for a minimum of 48 hours. Things such as tea, coffee, red wine, sauce and fruit juice are a few examples. The longevity of the whitening varies from person to person – and it can be affected by smoking and diet.
