Child Dental Benefit Scheme – Who is eligible? According to your Local Redcliffe Dentist

It is essential for a child to have access to dental treatment in order to promote health oral health and dental habits.  Your Local Redcliffe Dentists at John Street Dental understand this.

Fortunately, the Australian government has initiated a scheme which provides funding for dental treatment for eligible children.

To be eligible for the Child Dental Benefit Scheme, your child must:

  • be aged 2 to 17 years for at least 1 day of the calendar year
  • be eligible for Medicare on the day of service
  • get, or be part of a family getting, certain Australian Government payments.

Medicare assesses the eligibility of your child at the beginning of each calendar year and it is valid for the entire year.

Children who become eligible later in the calendar year will have their eligibility backdated to begin from 1 January of that calendar year.

The Dental services covered by the Child Dental Benefit Scheme include:

  • xrays
  • examination
  • teeth cleans
  • fillings
  • fissure sealants
  • extractions
  • root canal treatments
  • partial dentures
