Dental Bridges to Replace Missing Teeth

A dental bridge can be used to replace one or more missing teeth with a fixed restoration that is supported by the teeth on either side of the gap.

We’ll assess your teeth and bite, explain whether a bridge may be suitable for you and talk you through the treatment, expected costs and other options available.

The basics

A Fixed Option for Replacing Missing Teeth

A dental bridge can replace one or more missing teeth by using the neighbouring teeth for support. The replacement tooth or teeth are custom-made to fit the space and restore your bite and smile.

We’ll assess the teeth around the gap and talk you through whether a bridge is a suitable option for you. A bridge can help restore function, improve appearance and make everyday chewing more comfortable.

Why patients choose a dental bridge

How a Dental Bridge Can Help

A fixed replacement option

A dental bridge is secured in place and does not need to be removed like a traditional denture.

Designed to suit your smile

The replacement tooth is carefully shaped and shade matched to complement the surrounding teeth and create a natural-looking result.

Helps maintain tooth position

Replacing a missing tooth can help reduce the chance of neighbouring teeth shifting into the space over time.

Restores everyday function

A bridge can help restore your bite and make chewing more comfortable again.

What to expect

Your Dental Bridge Treatment, Step by Step

Assessment & planning

We’ll assess the gap and the surrounding teeth, talk through your treatment options and provide a clear estimate before you decide how you’d like to proceed.

Prepare the supporting teeth

If a bridge is suitable, the supporting teeth are carefully prepared and detailed scans or impressions are taken so your bridge can be made accurately.

Your bridge is made

Your custom bridge is carefully designed and shade-matched to suit the surrounding teeth. A temporary restoration may be fitted while your final bridge is being made.

Fit & review

Once your bridge is ready, we’ll check the fit, bite and appearance before securing it in place. We’ll also talk you through the best way to care for your bridge and keep it feeling comfortable over time.

Individual results vary. The outcome of any treatment depends on your own circumstances, and your dentist will discuss what is realistic for you.

Dental Bridge Questions

Is a Bridge Better Than an Implant?

It really depends on you and what will work best for your smile. A bridge and an implant can both replace a missing tooth, but they work in different ways. We’ll look at your teeth, gums and bone, listen to what matters most to you and explain the pros and cons of each option clearly.

That way, you can choose the treatment that feels right for your needs, lifestyle and budget.

With good care, a dental bridge can last for many years, although every patient and every bridge is different. We’ll check your bridge at your regular visits and let you know if there’s anything you need to be aware of along the way.

The cost of a dental bridge is case dependent and will vary based on your individual treatment needs, the number of teeth being replaced and the type of bridge required. After your assessment, we’ll provide a clear, itemised estimate and talk you through the costs before any treatment begins.

We’ll make sure you’re comfortable throughout the appointment and use local anaesthetic to numb the area before treatment begins. We’ll also check in with you along the way and make sure you know what to expect at each stage.

You’ll clean your bridge much like your natural teeth, with a little extra attention underneath and around the supporting teeth. We’ll show you the best way to care for it at home and recommend the tools that may make cleaning easier.
