Restorative Dentistry
Dental implants can be used to replace a missing or failing tooth and help restore both function and appearance. Each treatment is carefully planned around your individual needs, with implant treatment available here at John Street Dental in Redcliffe.
We’ll assess your teeth, gums and overall oral health first, explain the options available and talk you through what treatment may involve before you decide how you’d like to proceed.
Meet with one of our dentists to discuss your concerns, assess whether dental implants may be suitable for you and understand the next steps.
We’ll explain the treatment process, expected costs and answer any questions you may have.
We accept all health funds.
Replacing a single missing tooth
A dental implant and custom crown used to replace a missing front tooth, carefully planned to complement the surrounding teeth.
Replacing multiple missing teeth
Implants can be used to support replacement teeth where several teeth are missing, helping restore function and chewing comfort.
Supporting a denture or larger restoration
Implants may also be used to help support and stabilise a denture or larger dental restoration, depending on the patient’s needs.
The basics
A dental implant is a small titanium post placed into the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. Once the area has healed, a custom made crown or other restoration can be attached to help restore function and appearance.
Implants can be used to replace a single tooth, several teeth, or support a larger restoration depending on your needs. We’ll assess your teeth, gums and bone carefully and explain whether implant treatment may be suitable for you.
With good oral hygiene and regular dental care, implants can provide a long term option for replacing missing teeth.
Why patients choose dental implants
The crown or restoration attached to your implant is carefully shaped and shade matched to complement the surrounding teeth and your smile.
Unlike a traditional bridge, a single dental implant can replace a missing tooth without relying on the neighbouring teeth for support.
Dental implants can help restore your ability to bite, chew and speak comfortably, depending on your individual treatment needs.
With good oral hygiene, regular dental care and appropriate maintenance, dental implants can provide a reliable long-term option for replacing missing teeth.
What to expect
We’ll start by assessing your teeth, gums and bone and may take a CBCT scan to help plan your treatment. We’ll then talk you through the recommended approach, expected costs and next steps.
The implant is carefully placed into the jawbone. We’ll make sure you’re comfortable throughout the appointment and IV sedation may also be available if appropriate.
The implant is given time to heal and integrate with the surrounding bone. We’ll review your progress along the way and let you know what to expect during this stage.
Once healing is complete, your custom crown or restoration is fitted. We’ll check the fit, bite and appearance and explain how to care for your implant going forward.
Individual results vary. The outcome of any treatment depends on your own circumstances, and your dentist will discuss what is realistic for you.

Good to know
We’ll make sure the area is thoroughly numbed before treatment begins and check that you’re comfortable throughout the appointment. It’s normal to experience some tenderness or discomfort afterwards and we’ll give you clear instructions on how to manage this while the area heals.
The full implant process can take several months depending on your individual treatment plan and how the area heals. At your consultation, we’ll explain the expected stages and give you a clearer idea of the timeframe for your treatment.
The cost of dental implant treatment will depend on your individual needs and the type of treatment required. After your consultation, we’ll provide a clear, itemised estimate and talk you through the costs before you decide how you’d like to proceed. Third-party payment options such as Humm, Zip and Afterpay may also be available, subject to eligibility and provider terms.
Dental implants may be suitable for many patients, but it depends on factors such as your oral health, bone levels, medical history and individual treatment needs. We’ll assess everything carefully at your consultation and explain whether implants are a suitable option for you, as well as any additional treatment that may be needed first.
