Dental Crowns

Crowns are used in dental for many reasons some of these reason include:

  • To protect a weak tooth
  • To support an implant
  • To hold a Dental Bridge in place
  • To support a tooth with a large filling and not much tooth

There are different types of crowns available such as:

  • Stainless steel
  • Metals
  • Ceremic
  • Porcelain

to name a few.

Crowns are usually made over two Appointments to the dentist.

At the first appointment the dentist will shape the tooth, take an impression and place a temporary crown over the tooth untill the crown can be inserted.

The impressions are then sent to a dental laboratory. The lab will use the impressions to make a crown designed for that tooth and send it back to the dentist.

At the second appointment the crown is cemented in.
