General Dentistry
Wisdom teeth can sometimes cause pain, swelling, crowding or become impacted. If you’re having symptoms, we’ll assess the area carefully and explain whether removal is recommended.
We’ll talk you through what the procedure involves, what to expect afterwards and how we’ll help keep you comfortable throughout treatment.
If you’re having pain, swelling or concerns about your wisdom teeth, book an appointment with one of our dentists for an assessment.
We’ll examine the area, review any scans if needed and explain the treatment options clearly.
We accept all health funds.
The basics
Not every wisdom tooth needs treatment. Problems can occur when a wisdom tooth is impacted, difficult to clean, causing pain or swelling or affecting the teeth around it.
We’ll assess the area carefully and take any X-rays or scans that are needed to understand what’s happening.
If removal is recommended, we’ll explain why, talk you through what the procedure involves and make sure you know what to expect before and after treatment.
Why patients choose us for wisdom teeth
We’ll make sure the area is well numbed before treatment begins and check in with you throughout the appointment. IV sedation may also be available following an assessment.
We’ll use the X-rays or scans needed to understand the position of your wisdom teeth and plan the most appropriate approach for your situation.
If a wisdom tooth is causing pain, infection, swelling or other concerns, removal may be recommended to help manage the problem and protect your oral health.
We’ll explain what to expect after treatment and give you clear instructions to help you look after the area while it heals.
What to expect
We’ll examine your wisdom teeth and take any X-rays or scans needed to understand their position and whether removal is recommended.
We’ll talk you through what the procedure involves, answer your questions and discuss how we’ll keep you comfortable. IV sedation may also be available following an assessment.
If removal is recommended, your wisdom tooth or teeth will be carefully removed using the approach most appropriate for your individual situation.
We’ll give you clear aftercare instructions, explain what to expect while you heal and let you know when to contact us if you have any concerns.
Good to know
No, not always. If your wisdom teeth are healthy, sitting in a good position and easy to keep clean, they may not need to be removed.
We’ll assess them carefully and only recommend removal if there’s a clear reason to do so. If treatment is needed, we’ll explain what we can see and why we’re recommending it.
If you’re having local anaesthetic, you’ll be awake during the procedure, but the area will be thoroughly numbed to keep you comfortable.
IV sedation may also be available following an assessment. This can help you feel very relaxed and drowsy and many patients remember very little of the appointment afterwards.
Recovery can be different for everyone and will depend on how involved the removal is and how your body heals.
We’ll explain what you can expect after your procedure, give you clear aftercare instructions and let you know when it should be comfortable to return to your usual routine.
The cost is very case dependent and can vary depending on the position of the wisdom teeth and how involved the removal is.
After your assessment, we’ll provide a clear, itemised estimate and talk you through the costs before you decide how you’d like to proceed.
Absolutely. It’s very common to feel nervous about wisdom tooth treatment and we’ll take the time to make sure you feel comfortable and informed.
We’ll explain everything clearly, answer your questions and check in with you throughout your visit. If you’re particularly anxious, IV sedation may also be available following an assessment.
